We often recieve emails asking us about a certain song that was played. There are actually two ways that you can find out what was played. Most of the time you can check our playlists for the time and date that you heard the song. This will work almost all of the time but if you heard the song while there was a DJ here, then you need to call as soon as you hear it because we DJs have short memories. If you don't hear a DJ on the air then chances are you can simply check our playlists. These playlists are in the raw format. This means that they don't look real pretty or fancy. They are simple text files.
Choose the playlist according to the date. November 23, 2006 would be 112306M1.txt
Notice that the time in the left column is in 24 hour time US EASTERN. The times are approximate for the most part, but are exact during the news or top of the hour. Songs differ in their lengths, so as the hour moves on, the times listed become less accurate. Not all the songs will play, as we overfill our schedule. Use the listed times to get you to the music segment and then ignore the actual times, which are usually way off. Go by song order only.
Find your song by looking in the approximate time slot on the playlist. (Remember it's 24 hour military time.) During a music segment, the songs will play in order. All the songs will play until a #SB (softbranch) or #HB (hardbranch) is scheduled to play somewhere down the list. This is why a section of songs are sometimes skipped.
A soft branch at 14:00 means that at 14 minutes after the hour, the next thing on the list after the #SB will play as soon as the thing that is currently playing finishes. A hardbranch doesn't wait. It fades out whatever is playing and plays the next thing on the list. Look for the SB's or HB's. They really help you navigate.
